My top albums for 2024

Before i start the post, i just wanted to talk about why i even started this cause i think its kind of funny! 

It really started earlier today (Dec 29, 2024) when i saw this post on tiktok. The creator was showing their top, i think 30 albums of 2024, and me being a music fanatic i loved the idea! The thing is, is that i didnt want to just post a collage of the album covers, i actually wanted to say why i chose each one, and list my favourite songs! So that led me to think of where i could post this. I couldnt post it on tiktok because 1. it would talk forever to edit, and 2. because no one would read it (and im afraid of it not getting any views/likes)! And i cant post it on instagram because again no one would read it. So i thought and thought of where i can post, not have to worry about views or likes, and where i could just write and write to my hearts content (i have a lot to say). This then led me to remember a conversation my mom had with i think one of my aunts, where she had mentioned i should start a blog, so thats why we're here now! Thank you mom😋

Anyways, ill stop talking now, here is my top 10 albums for 2024!!! ^ - ^

10. GUTS (spilled)

NUMBER TENNNN!!!! Guts (Spilled)!!!!! The only reason this is at ten is because as much as i love this album and the immense impact its made on me, i havent been listening to it as often and i only add 2-3 songs on to my playlists now. But, its only on this list because as i said, its made a huge impact on me! Songs like "pretty isnt pretty" got me through the bullying i experienced last year and at the start of this year, and "logical" got me through problems with lets say friends🤗! Not only that, the songs are just SO catchy!!!! Whenever "Ballad of a homeschooled girl", "All american bish", "so american", and like TEN OF THE OTHER SONGSS comes on you KNOW im gonna be dancing and singing along!!!!! 

I love how it can go from a soft ballad to this upbeat and fun pop song (reflects my mood swings!🤗🤗🤗)!! Also, gotta support my cousin🥰!

Fav songs and why:

"So american" - At first i didnt like this song (i didnt like any of the deluxe songs) but eventually as i kept listening, it came to be one of my ALL TIME FAVES on the whole album. I also think one of the reasons i started liking it was because, at the time i was going through a hard time with school and just needed something to cheer me up, it was so upbeat and happy, how you not be cheered up? So yea fav song on the album

"Ballad of a homeschooled girl" - Okay maybe i lied, this is my fav song on the whole album. Ive never not likes this song, its just always been a favourite even if i didnt want to admit it! Its so catchy and i relate to it SO MUCH!!!!! I may not be homeschooled but the song talks about a girl who is VERY socially awkward and THAT IS LITERALLY ME!!!!!! Specifically these lines 'I stumbled over my words, made it weird, i made it worse. Each time i step outside, its social suicide!!!', and 'the mornin after i panic, OH GOD WHAT DID I SAYYYY', ACTUALLY ABOUT MEEE!!!!! Yea i think Olivia wrote it about me🥰!

9. Eternal sunshine by Ariana Grande

I genuinely think is Ariana's BEST album (Other than "Yours truly"). When it first came out, again i wasnt a big fan, but that was because i only listened to a few seconds of each song. Fortunately, i kept listening over and over again and it grew on me. I liked it so much that my whole playlist in sept pretty much just consisted of this whole album. Its so pretty and the visuals are just gorgeous!!!!

Fav songs and why:

"Eternal Sunshine" - i think my fav title track of ever made. Ariana's voice and i want to say the adlibs (IDK IF THATS WHAT THEIR CALLED, but what i mean is like at the start of the song she goes "i DonT Care hwat peoPle sayyyyy~") is so satisfying. It genuinely tickles my brain, and is prob the catchiest part of the song. ACTUALLY no when she says "So now we play our separate scenes" THAT is the most satisfying part. I dont know what about it, it just AGHHH, i love it so much.

"Ordinary things (ft: Nonna)" My actual fav on the album. The intro to the song is just like actual music to my ears. Like i know its already music but when i hear it, it actually transcends me into another dimension. Also, it sounds like a song that would be released in the 2010s which is really comforting to me for some reason. And i keep saying certain parts of the songs are satisfying but this whole ENTIRE is satisfying. Actually i just think Ariana's vocals on the album were just so buttery and like IDK ANY OTHER WORD TO DESCRIBE IT OTHER THAN SATISFYING!!!! And the voice note at the end was so cute :((

8. Charm by Clairo

I couldnt not include bookie on this list. Clairo really fed us this year, and we should all give our thanks🧎‍♀️. 

We all wanted new music, and she gave us the catchiest, jazziest, summeriest album ever. I think im just in love with clairo...

Also i use this album for my instagram a little too much🤗 CLAIRO COME TO CANADA PLS

Fav songs and why:

"Second nature" - "DAAA da DADADA DAAA da dadadadaaa" ACTUALLY SENDS ME TO ANOTHER REALM OMG!!!!!! Guys i was an OG second nature fan before it got popular on tiktok😓... I declare this the BEST song on the album. Guys you just have to listen to it to understand HOW GOOD THIS SONG IS!!!!!! Im not even going to put another song down because THIS is the best song and my most FAVOURITE song on the album, none can compare.

7. Hamilton Soundtrack

Welp, heres the odd one out... What can i say? This soundtrack is unbeatable and Ive listened to it on repeat ever since 2020🤗🤗!  

I genuinely dont get how people dont like hamilton. Its catchy, funny, AND teaches you about american history even if you dont live in the US! Fun and educational is like every parents dream (not my parents tho, i sing too much...). I could write my review about Hamilton right now but i wanna leave that for another post because i have a lot to say about it!

Fav songs and why:

"Wait for it" - "WAIT FOR IT (wait for it, wait for it) I AM THE ONE THING IN LIFE I CAN CONTROLLLLL~~~~!!!!! I AM INIMITABLE, I AM AN ORIGINAALLL~~". At first i didnt like this song AT ALL (do we not see a pattern happening here?), but omg... AGHHHH!!! Leslie odom jr. VOICE AGHH!!! His voice is so beautiful, i think its the best male singing voice ive ever heard (other than wallows guys). His voice is so satisfying to hear, its so smooth and when he needs to be idk harsh? Idk the term but i just love him and this song so much. Also i LOVE how it goes from this soft song that its just like dundundundun to then this BUMBUMBUMBUMBUM just scratches my brain in all the right ways. Its also just so emotional, like Burr is just pouring his heart out to us, and it makes me so emotional. PLEASE go listen to it. you will NOT regret it.

"History has its eyes on you" - This song also makes me VERY emotional. Also, Christopher Jackson's voice BEAUTIFUL.  His voice can go from this sad and emotional, and then STARTS BELTING?! YES KING AMAZING THATS WHY UR THE FIRST PRESIDENT

6. Nothing Happens by Wallows

The first wallows album on this list. Im actually kind of surprised at how low i put this considering how much its on repeat but the next few albums deserved their spots. And honestly, i only really listen to the more popular songs on the album, but the more popular songs are popular for a reason and are some of the best songs theyve made. I just have a soft spot for Wallows. 

This album is just too iconic not to have on the list. If nothing else really appeals to me ill just put on "Are you bored yet (ft: Clairo)" and all is well🥰 (also hearing it live was life changing). 

Fav songs and why:

"Do not wait" - first off, this song live. O. M. G. Actually makes me emotional. What a perfect way to start a concert. DYLANS VOICE TOOOOOOO!!!! The instrumentals are unmatched to any of their other songs aswell. its just such a good song to zone out and think about life too.

"Are you bored yet? (Ft: Clairo)"- Might be basic but it's genuinely the most iconic song ever. ITS THE SUMMER SONG. EVERY SUMMER IT MUST GO ON. When this is playing know that im already in summer mode.

5. Tell me that its over by Wallows

this is my album for when spring is transitioning to sunmer and my summer transitioning to winter. i actually started listening to it alot more this winter, im not sure why though. Dont get me wrong, ive always liked the album, it has some of their most well known songs, and dylan's cutest era, other than his blue hair of course. But i never really got around to listening to the full album. I know now that that was a BIG MASSIVE mistake. Its just such a feel good album (well all of Wallow's albums are upbeat) its just the spring album. (Nothing happens is for winter, tell me that its over is for spring, and model is for summer).

Fav songs and why:

"I dont want to talk" - That part of the song where dylan goes "Im.. not alright... BUT I DONT NEED COMFORTTTT" SO GOOD!!!!! Theres also something about the beat of the song and how dylan sings it with the beat that just feels so right. Also, its kind of a title track since he says "I dont want to talkkkkk" which i like. 

"Guitar romantic search adventure"- This was one of the first songs i listened to when i first started gettinf in to Wallows, so it holds a really special place in my heart. It gives you this feeling of nostalgia or comfort even? It feels like when ur watching outside your window on a sunny summer day or when your watching the ocean and just want to stare in silence.

4. The rise and fall of a midwest princess by Chappell Roan

We all shouldnt be surprised that Chappell is so high on my list. She was my top artist this year, and 3/5 tracks on my wrapped were Chappell😭. I think i had a slight chappell obsession but hey who didnt? 
I think this album did a reset on my brain because after i started listening to it all i wanted to listen to since then has been happy and upbeat songs. I dont want any sad slow stuff anymore, i just want any upbeat catchy happy songs! Which i think is amazing considering how before i used to exclusively listen to slow sad songs. Its really helped my mood lighten up! 

This album also got popular right around when i was at one of my lowest points, so it helped me cheer up quite al lot! Also, Chappell is just an icon. Im absolutely infatuated with her.

ALSO IT TOOK ME 5 MONTHS TO GET MY HANDS ON THE CD WHICH IS LIKE INSANE?????? But i got it for christmas so all is well (ty gobby🫰)

Fav songs and why:

"Coffee" - its kinda ironic how i was just talking about how i liked how upbeat the album is, and then i choose one of the saddest songs, but whatever🤗! Coffee is so underrated!!!! Chappell's vocals are just gorgeous, and guys this might be controversial but i think its better than Casual😥... I think it shouldve got Casual's hype cause its so beautifully sad. 

"Naked in Manhattan" - "New crush, high school love again" and she says it in this low kind of robotix tone, MMHMMMM yes please more of that!!!! Also "Touch me baby, put your lips on mineeee" STUCK IN MY HEAD!!!! Her catchiest song in my opinion. Also one of my fav summer songs this year!

3. Beatopia by Beabadoobee 

WOOP WOOP TOP 3!!!!!!!!!!! 

Guys... Are we surprised? I make this album my whole personality. it might be a little basic since everyone and their mother loves this album but CAN YOU BLAME US???? This is Bea's summer album to me. And anything that reminds me of summer makes me happy no matter what. 

First off, the cover art is just TOO iconic. I swear i see it everywhere. Its just unmistakable. I could genuinely recognize it from a mile away because ITS THAT ICONIC. I want if pasted ALL OVER MY WALLS RIGHT NOW. Second I JUST LOVE THIS ALBUM SO MUCH I CANNOT PUT IT INTO WORDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!    I need it injected in my bloodstream omg. 

Fav songs and why:

"See you soon" - the only reason this is one of my fav songs is because of that part where it goes "See you sooooooon (i guess i have to take it, im deteriorating )" and it sounds like a voicemail kind of. I think about that line over and and over and over again, it rings in my head even when i dont want it too. Its just the perfect combo of like soft singing and talking with the melody. SO ADDICTIVE.

"Broken CD" - this was my first choice zone out and think about all the friendships that have gone wrong song. its like a comforting hug, but then makes you really think. Also "Dont think im over it..." is LITERALLY ME. #relatable🤗🤗

1. Model by Wallows!!!

MY NUMBER ONE ALBUM FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR IS MODEL BY WALLOWS!!!!!!!! If you have ever ridden in the car with me, every been in my gym clads, ever just been near me, TRUST, this album will be playing. ASK MY PARENTS I PLAY THIS ALBUM ALL THE TIME. 

The way i didnt expect to listen to the album much when it first dropped, but omg. Its a genuine obsession right now. I dont think SEEING THEM LIVE helped... (WHICH WAS LIFE CHANGING LIKE YOU GUYS DONT EVEN UNDERSTAND HOW AMAZING THAT CONCERT WAS. IT WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF MY YEAR. THE BEST CONCERT IVE EVER BEEN TOO. IF I COULD LIVE IN A LOOP AND CHOOSE ONE SPOT WHERE I HAVE TO LIVE THE SAME MOMENT OVER AND OVER AGAIN, ID CHOOSE THAT CONCERT BECAUSE OMG??????????). I want this album injected into my bloodstream. I want it planted into my BRAIN. While everyone was have a Brat summer, i was having a MODEL summer🤗. ITS THEEEEEEE SUMMER ALBUM. THERES LITERALLY A SONG CALLED CANADA WHICH IS ABOUT ME BECAUSE ME AND DYLAN MINETTE ARE DATING. I ACTUALLY NEED THIS PLAYING EVERY SECOND OF THE DAY (it kind of already is🤗). So yes. Number 1 BY A LONG SHOT. NOTHING COMPARES.

"Canada"- guys... come on.. its literally about me and Dylan's love🥰🥰

"Anytime, Always"- My recent favourite! The song is just so sweet "You can call me anytime, always. You can call me anytime" Like HELLO??? Listen i may not answer the phone always but if you text me first that its urgent, best believe im calling u right back SO FAST. Its just so happy and puts me into a great mood!!!!!

"only ecstasy"- a fav when the album first came out since its just such a easy listen. "Youuuuuuuu areeeeeeee my only ecstasyyyy" it tickles my brain so nicely and like PLEASE just go listen to it. You will understand when you listen, its just this sweet little song😞😞.

"You (show me where my days went)"- when dylan goes "its youuuuuuu-oou-ouuu-ou" yes. yes please. yes.

"she's an actress"- Also a fav when the album first came out! I think i have a thing where if a singer like idk says the words really fast but its kind of slow at the same time and they are really pronunciating, i think it just tickels my brain just right and thats why i like so many songs like that😭... but yes, such a cute song abt me🤗 Jk its abt dylan's gf who is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! Dont know who i would rather be dylan or isabela lowkey...

honourable mentions: bad dream (amazing live), a warning, calling after me (I SCREAMED SANG THIS), my apartment (what started it all), going under, dont you think its strange, Guys i think i just love this album so much, i want it INJECTED IN TO MY BRAINA AND VEINS AND LIKE I JUST NEWD TO BE SUBMERGED IN TO IT.
